Finding positives in turbulent times 🙌🏼

Well, it’s been a while! I really don’t like to break a healthy routine but I hope you will understand. I’ve had to deal with some pretty serious issues in my studio which made my content creation life that much more difficult.

But, as with anything in life, these difficult challenges can be a good way of reaffirming the things we value and what we believe is important. I found that I can be quite resilient when it comes to things I am passionate about.

In the grand scheme of things, there are much bigger issues out there that people go through daily and in comparison, my issues are not that serious.

Having a huge water leak in the studio and causing damage to some of my furniture, and ultimately stopping me from creating content effectivelly, was certainly painful, but I know the potential is there.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that these are like ‘tests’ that we sometimes have to go through to prove to ourselves that:
NOTHING can stand in our way towards achieving success.

And I know with your support I will be able to look back at this period and remember how resilient we were 💪🏼

Slow growth

The channel naturally has taken a hit in terms of growth and I atribute that entirely to my output. I’ve created less and that was a direct impact to growth.

There are other things at play such as not much going on in the tech space anyway, but I’d rather work on my consistency now and not attribute this slow period to anyone or anything else other than me.

Don’t really wish to dwell too much on this but in essence, a channel with half a million subscribers was using my content without authorisation. I’ve dealt with the creator directly and he’s now removed the videos entirely from public.

I moved on now, the person has publicly apologised and I will continue to focus on creating content. But as you can imagine, this wasn’t a nice situation to deal with and detracted me a little bit for at least a day last week.

Exciting times ahead

There are so many cool things about to happen in the tech space and I can’t wait to create content about them!

As part of growing the YouTube channel I am constantly looking at areas that could attract more viewers, not only for my core content but also in new areas.

This is harder than usual as it takes me away from my ‘comfort zone’ but it also excites me, as my approach is not to ‘niche-down’ as many YouTube gurus suggest, but to expand in other areas that I am passionate about.

And if you are one of my lovely subscribers, all I would ask is for your patience while I figure things out and when you see a video on my channel that is not really that interesting to you, it’s very much natural and I expect that to be the case.

Just know that I will be still trying to be myself and have the same fun I have with all my content, so I hope you can join me anyway.

The next few videos are already recorded and I will be editing them in the next couple of weeks. These are:

• What I’d like to see at WWDC this year

• My over the top gaming setups

Let’s keep going!

I’ve not had an ideal few weeks but I am really glad this happened as it made me even more certain that creating content is something I want to continue to pursue! And with your support, I hope soon I will be able to focus 100% on it, rather than being something I do ‘on the side’ as well as my regular 9-5 job.
